So everyone,I am finally sitting down and updating you!! So the music video has been released and if you haven’t seen it yet I have loaded it here so you now can. Once again, thank you to Brett, Conrad and Chris for all your hard work. Can’t wait to do the second one. So life has been pretty laxadasicle (yes I made that word up) for me here in Montreal. I have been enjoying learing le Francais, and although it is a slow process, it is coming along. People can actually somewhat understand me, and I am starting to comprehend more and more all the time. I successfully did all my grocery shopping at the Jean Talon Market today en francais. Montreal is a wicked city and it will be hard to leave, however, I still have 2 and 1/2 more weeks to go. I will also be playing tomorrow night here in Montreal @ Brutopia starting at 10:00 pm on Crescent St. So if you know anyone in or around the area….Let them know!!Not only am I playing tomorrow, my interview with CTV as one of Alberta’s hidden treasure’s airs @ 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm Alberta prime time (AccessTV). And if you can’t catch at one of those times, you can catch it again on Wed morning @ 11:00 am. After that, I will be bumming around Montreal until July 9th, taking most of the Jazz Festival and hopefully seeing Jeff Beck. I then officially start my “Women of Folk” tour with the beautiful Sidney york and Amy Thiessen until July 23. I will update the tour info soon so be sure to check out where we will be playing. THEN COMES THE EDMONTON FOLK FESTIVAL!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!! August 7-9! I will be one of the featured U-22 performers! God I love Edmonton and the amazing support there! I love the rest of Canada too, but man, home sweet home! Can’t wait to get back and see everyone! Happy Father’s day pops and Brienne, Congrats on getting married!! Brittney, see you in 2 weeks…..then…. look out MONTREAL!!!!!
Hey Everyone, I am sorry I have been so bad with keeping you posted on all my adventures, but I was just so busy. But that is still no excuse. I have now made a new resolution that I am going to keep you all up-to-date with Kaley Bird happenings with regular website up-dates, etc. I promise I will be better. So in a nutshell, I think I am addicted to the road, I had such a blast. I played with so many awesome musicians along the way and met a lot of cool people. New York was a blast, although I probably shopped more then I should have. It was also awesome that have two of my best friends come and meet me there…that’s you Ashley and Brittany!! Also, CMW was awesome and I can’t wait for next year it was great!! I was stationed at an awesome stage and got to work with some pretty rad musicians, one being Mathew DeZoete who I played with in November so it was cool to see him again. I also met this really cool guy…..I think his name is Gavin, or maybe Calvin…jk Cavin!! As far as the tour….. it went really smoothly…. except for the last 4 days in which I had to call CAA because I locked my keys in my car while I was parked at the gas pump…I then proceeded only to get a speeding ticket in between Sudbury and WAWA (however, I won’t complain the police officer reduced it from $175 to $50…so I am happy to pay it). I then left my entire toiletry kit in WAWA…..which really sucked because since I am really cool and have to wear a retainer on my bottom teeth at night…. I was terrified that my teeth would go crooked since I left my retainer in my toiletrie kit. However, my toiletries were delivered yesterday via. trusty greyhound and my retainer still fits!!So even with all that I had something really cool happen at my last gig in Regina. I had this 12 year old girl come up to me and tell me I was better the Hannah Montana. I think that pretty much means I have made it considering Hannah Montana is like that age groups GOD!!! Here is a picture of Joe the CAA driver who had to get my keys out of my car. He told me I was aloud to lock my keys in my car anytime I was in Sudbury as long as I ask for Joe. O, lucky me!! img_1144.JPG
Maybe I should stick to music……Tune in at approxiamtely 8:40 am on Friday, Dec. 5 to hear me perform live from Edmonton’s CityTV studio!! Hopefully I will see you all at my show that night @ The Haven Social Club with the marvelous Andrew Allen!!
Alright guys, I never blog, but today I felt compelled. I am officially available in the Public Library in Calgary, AB. They have 1 copy available for people to check out and listen to…….does that mean I am almost like an author? I remember as a child I used to go and take-out “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh”. I subsequently would always fake sick the next day so I could watch them at home on the big red pull out couch, which I would always make into a luxurious bed. That was a little off topic….but now back to the point. Robert Munsch is in the library, as well as Shakespeare, Robert Frost ( I almost put Jack Frost, but then remembered he has more to do with Christmas), Tori Spelling (not sure why I refrenced her, but I know she has a memoir… I think), and some guy named Grisham who my mom loves. I don’t read all that much, I mean I can read, just lack the time. Anywhom, I guess what I am saying is that it’s ridiculously awesome someone can check out something I made from a library. That almost makes it legit…. doesn’t it? Anyways, until I am winning WCMA’s, Juno’s, VMA’s, and Grammy’s, I think it is important to revel in these little glories. So everyone, I am going to try and make bloggin’ (funny word….bloggin’ bloggin’) a bit of a habit now so you can keep up oon my touring adventrues. I am sure I will have interesting stories….and if I don’t, I’ll make some up. Until next time…….
